Since the pandemic officially began in March, we've been told staying home is the best way to avoid catching COVID-19. And it is. But life in confinement can cause physical ailments on its own.

Being homebound for so long contorts the body, weakens the heart and lungs and even impairs brain function. The effects of life in isolation may stay with us beyond the pandemic's end (whenever that may be).

The transition between summer and fall is a great The transition between summer and fall is a great time of year to do your seasonal cleanse or juice fast. 

As we know, seasonal cleansing rids our bodies of all sorts of toxins, pollutants, harsh chemicals, pesticides, and any other toxic residue that our physical body has accumulated over the summer. Cleanses will help to purify and tone the internal organs, cells, and tissues of the body, flushing out impurities that aren’t serving us.

The seasons affect us not only in how we react to The seasons affect us not only in how we react to the outside climate but also by the foods that are naturally available to us. As a general rule of thumb, eat seasonally as much as possible and you can’t go wrong. Mother nature knows what she’s doing! 

Things are in season at a particular time for a reason. Seasonal foods support our bodies with what they need during each season.

With fall comes new seasonal produce. It can be fun designing a meal plan that reflects what’s available now.

Also - don't forget to detox! Doing an effective detox diet like avoiding sugar, wheat and dairy for a couple weeks is often quite revealing and helps us to feel better – lighter and more youthful with greater energy.

There are a great many available foods — apples and walnuts, sunflower seeds, zucchini and other squash, cabbages, peppers and tomatoes, plus many grains and beans. I love to learn new recipes and enjoy good food!

Plus - did you know that most of us need more protein and heat generating foods in the colder months? Perfect time to 'energize' your recipes with things like spicy peppers such as cayenne and chilies. This keeps our blood and energy moving! ~Erin ♥️

This seasonal shift isn’t limited to a change in our natural environment, but also has a profound effect on the rhythm and health of our bodies.

Since modern life tends not to be in sync with seasonal living, an awareness of this shift and taking little extra care during this time of year goes a long way toward supporting our overall health. It’s also a great time to hit the reset button, set new goals, and get organized for the upcoming year.
